Queen of the Castle

My daily thoughts are shared with you so that the boys will no longer see me walking around the house talking to myself!

Escape Artist

I know, I know. With four little boys, we should have dealt with this problem already, but we haven't. Jonathan can now climb out of his crib. With great dexterity, he can pull himself up and over the rail.

Why haven't we gone through this with the others? Well, Brennan and Philip were both evicted from the crib at 18 months due to the arrival of the next sibling. Nicholas wasn't the climber that the others were, and was very content to stay cuddled in his bed.

Now with Jonathan's newfound ability, questions emerge. Do we keep putting him back? Do we get Philip a twin bed and give Jonathan the toddler bed? And if we do that, what do we do with the crib? I cannot bear to take it down, even (hopefully) temporarily! As trying as it may be at times, I am not ready to be a house without a baby!

Decisions, decisions!

You could always just take out the mattress and put it on the floor instead.

I would keep putting him back in for a week or so. Nicholas climbed out at 18months and then stopped suddenly. He stayed in his crib until 28 months. Then he climbed out instantaneously and moved to the big boy bed, which for us was a full size bed on the floor. The extra 10 months of crib living were well worth the week of temporary climbing out.

I wish I could share some advice, but none of mine climbed out. Of course, they didn't spend much time in the crib either. ;)

Our Little Boo was our escape artist. (who is surprised, really?) We ended up getting a crib tent. And it was at least a month before she figured out how to unzip it and climb out! heh heh.

Yes, it seemed mean to us, too, to "zip her in" but it was for her own safety and our sanity. We were walking zombies... up all night with her and Little Love (baby with acid reflux... no fun)

Eventually, Little Boo got her big girl bed, and now sleeps like a lamb.

:)
